UNLIMITED GOD

Ex 8:16-19

16 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,’ and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.” 17 They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came upon men and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats. 18 But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. And the gnats were on men and animals.

19 The magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said.
NIV (emphasis mine)

Your God and my God is great. He cannot be limited in any way like man as exemplified by the Egyptian magicians. He has power and authority over everything and can do whatever he likes at any time. That is why I trust and love him. In him I am secured and you can also be if only you will trust him. He loves you!

I was out talking to my neighbor about what I do as the praise dance leader and she asked me what denomination I was and she said…i used to be catholic and then Baptist, then agnostic and now i just don’t know what to believe.

I told her that i have no denominational preference I believe in relationship with God…i believe in his son Jesus and that he died and rose for our sins and that he came to live in our heart and that if we read his word in the Bible we’ll know him more…she started discussing all she saw wrong w/ how she grew up catholic and she said I just don’t understand how if there is a God how he allows bad things like children being hurt to happen.

I told her just as real as God is…so is Satan and I said the people who…

Something happened to me in church on Sunday 18th September,2011. Just when I was about to preach at our Youth service, I raised this worship song below and another one, and that was the end of my sermon. I was so overwhelmed with the goodness of God such that I wept for a long time and could not preach. My associate Pastor had to preach. Have you ever sat down quietly to count the blessings of God in your life?I am not saying that I don’t have any problem at all under the sun, but all I am saying is that inspite of all my problems, God is still good to me!

Please stop for a moment, take a pen and paper and think. Write as many of the blessings of God that you can remember in just about five or ten minutes and you will see how blessed you are. You may be going through some horrible times in your life at the moment, but that does not mean God does not love or care about you. You may even be at the point of committing suicide, just pause for a moment and do this exercise for me. Have you enjoyed anything in life before? Have you ever asked yourself who gave you life to enjoy what you enjoyed? if you know and accept that God did it, then I can assure you that he will do it again for you. it is not over until God says so.

This is the reason why the bible encourages us to give thanks in all situations. it sounds ridiculous but that is what God requires. He can change your situation in a twinkle of an eye. If you really believe in him then you will find a reason to be grateful inspite of you situation.

1 Thess 5:18
18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
NIV

If God should take his love from our  lives, I can assure you we will be worse off.

LORD I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR JESUS CHRIST AND MY LIFE.

If you have any such overwhelming experience of the love and blessings of God, please let me hear from you.

” My Jesus I love you, I know thou art mine

for thee all the pleasure, of sin I resign

My gracious redeemer, my saviour art thou

If ever I love you, my Jesus ’tis now.

EMPOWERMENT BY THE WORD OF GOD

3 facts about the word of God.

1. The word of God is powerful.

2. You can only be empowered when you believe and apply it to your life

3. The word of God is eternal.

How do you get it to empower your life?

1. Read it. Hear it.

Josh 1:8
8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Rev. 1:3 – blessed is the one who reads this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take it to heart, what is written in it, because the time is near.

Deut 17:18-20
18 When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the priests, who are Levites. 19 It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees 20 and not consider himself better than his brothers and turn from the law to the right or to the left. Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.

Matt 14:25-30
25 During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

These are a few scriptures to encourage you to read and listen to the word of God. When you make time to read, listen or study the word of God, it will empower your life. Peter heard a word from the Lord Jesus and acted on it, and it enabled him to walk on water. If the dead, the sea and other things can hear the word of God and respond then I believe that it can do greater things in us and for us.

2. Act on it. (SIBIDI)

  • Speak it. (confess it)
  • Believe it
  • Do it

Luke 11:28
28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

3. The word of God must continually live in you.

1 John 2:14
14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you,and you have overcome the evil one.

When the word of God lives in you, certain things happen to you.

  • your faith increases – Rom 10:17 – Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.
  • it deals with your fears – Ex 4:4 –  Then the Lord said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.” So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand.
  • makes you wise – Ps 19:7 – The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
  • guarantees your salvation – Rom 1:16 – I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. (if the word of God has the power to save, then it can also keep you till Christ comes).
  • purifies you – John 17:17 – Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. (Ps119:9, Jn. 15:3)
  • gives you direction in life – Ps. 119:105 -Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
  • it gives life to things that are dead in your life – Ezek 37:7-10 – So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.'” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet — a vast army.
  • gives you hope for the future – Rom 15:4 – For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

The word of God, like a seed, has the power of multiplication.

Is something scaring you or making you stop in your tracks with fear? Read the following verses of scripture and I believe it will help you.

Ex 14:13-14

13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
NIV

Deut 31:6
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
NIV

Ps 27:1
7 The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?
NIV

Isa 41:10
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
NIV

Isa 43:1-3
But now, this is what the Lord says — he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.  3 For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.
NIV

Rom 8:15-16
15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba,  Father.”
NIV

These are scriptures which tells you that as a child of God you need not be afraid. There are so many things in the world which will scare or make you afraid, but know that the Lord God is on your side and therefore you are more than a conqueror.

Fear is a robber. It can rob you and generations to come the blessings of God if it is allowed to prevail.
