John 1:12

12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. NIV

John 1:12

12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name

AMP

You have to know who you are. When you don’t know who you are you are just like a prince who does not know his inheritance.

Having the legal right to be a child of God gives you so many advantages.

1. Spiritual adoption

Rom 8:16-17

16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

1 John 3:10

10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

Gal 4:7

7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

2. Become an heir with Christ.

Gal 3:29

29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Gal 4:7

7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

Rom 8:17

17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

3. Become part of Abrahamic seed and heir according to all the promises given to Abraham.

Gen 12:2-3

2 “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Some characteristics of Abraham that will help you enforce your power as a child of God.

1. Obedience

Gen 12:4

4 So Abram left, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran

2. Selflessness

Gen 13:9

9 Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”

3. Courageous

Gen 14:14

14 When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan.

4. Benevolent

Gen 14:20

And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

5. Incorruptible

Gen 14:23

23 that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, ‘I made Abram rich.

6. Mighty in prayer

Gen 18:23-33

 23 Then Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24 What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? 25 Far be it from you to do such a thing — to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” 26 The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”27 Then Abraham spoke up again: “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, 28 what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city because of five people?”

“If I find forty-five there,” he said, “I will not destroy it.”

29 Once again he spoke to him, “What if only forty are found there?”

He said, “For the sake of forty, I will not do it.” 30 Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?” He answered, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.” 31 Abraham said, “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?”  He said, “For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it.”

32 Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”  33 When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.

7. Great in faith

Heb 11:17-19

17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18 even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”   19 Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.

YOU ARE BLESSED AS A SEED OF ABRAHAM. Think about this and exercise your authority with confidence.

Num 23:18-24

18 Then he uttered his oracle:

“Arise, Balak, and listen;
hear me, son of Zippor.
19 God is not a man, that he should lie,
nor a son of man, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
20 I have received a command to bless;
he has blessed, and I cannot change it.

21 “No misfortune is seen in Jacob,
no misery observed in Israel.
The Lord their God is with them;
the shout of the King is among them.
22 God brought them out of Egypt;
they have the strength of a wild ox.
23 There is no sorcery against Jacob,
no divination against Israel.
It will now be said of Jacob
and of Israel, ‘See what God has done!’
24 The people rise like a lioness;
they rouse themselves like a lion
that does not rest till he devours his prey
and drinks the blood of his victims.”
NIV

I greet you reader in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I thank God so much that you are alive at this time of the year to read this post. It tells me that in one way or the other God has been good to you this year and I know he has been good to me too. Let me take this opportunity to wish you a belated Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2012 in the name of Jesus.

I believe 2012 is going to be another good year for you because of the scripture from Numbers 23 from verse 19 onwards. Whatever God told you he was going to do in your life and has not happened is about to happen in 2012. God cannot lie and will not change his mind concerning you and I. He does what he says and his promises are forever sure. they are ye and amen. You are blessed and beyond a curse. You cannot be cursed because Christ has paid for the price of any curse pronounced on you. Furthermore a curse without any reasonable reason will not land.

What ever the enemy has planned for you in 2012 will not materialize because the Lord your God is with you. No misery, no misfortune will be found in your camp. No sorcery or divination will prevail against you. Your testimony will be there for all to see. As your days so will your strength be. You will be like a wild ox in strength and like a lioness you will devour your unrepentant enemies. If God is for us who can be against us. Don’t forget that the enemy will try but the Lord will raise a standard against him. Even Jesus he tried but he was defeated in the end.

Isa 8:9-10

9 Raise the war cry, you nations, and be shattered!
Listen, all you distant lands.
Prepare for battle, and be shattered!
Prepare for battle, and be shattered!
10 Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted;
propose your plan, but it will not stand,
for God is with us.
NIV

Let the enemies gather wherever they choose, their plans and strategies against you will not stand because the Lord God is with you. Even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death you will fear no evil, because he is with you.

So what is your role in all this? Yours is to have faith in God and walk rightly with him. His grace will see you through.

God bless you and have an anointed new year!

1 John 3:1-3
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.
NIV

Sometimes it beats my imagination that God should love me to the extent that I am called a child of God. But the fact is that if you are born again then you are actually a child of God. It is not because I am holy, pure or good. All my good works are like filthy rags in his presence. While I was still a sinner he made provision for my sins. He still loved me in my filthy condition.

Rom 5:8
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
NIV

The love of God is so amazing that it is illustrated mathematically to be more than 100% if we match all the alphabets with numbers. eg A=1 and Z=26. In this world the best you can get out of anything is 100% or less but when it comes to the love of God it is a different story. Let’s do the calculation.

L-O-V-E-O-F-G-O-D

12+15+5+15+7+15+4=101%

What do you think? God loves you more than you can think of or imagine. Let him have all your troubles and hold on to him for he cares.

4 Even though I walk

I will fear no evil,

NIV

How many are your enemies? I guess you don’t even know but you feel overwhelmed by these supposed enemies. Don’t worry. Let these enemies devise all their strategies, I can assure you it will not work. Do you know why? It is because God is on your side. fear not for he is your shield and spear. Let all the nations gather against you, they will be shattered. You will only see the reward of the wicked. Praise the Lord!
